City Scout on Hawks Provisions + Public House

Hawk’s Provisions + Public House is all about good food enjoyed in a comfortable setting. Fagnoni and his team are passionate about providing people with excellent food whether they are on their lunch break from the hospital or celebrating a special event. The gastro-pub style restaurant doesn’t cling to any one type of cuisine, but rather gathers menu inspiration from local produce and kitchen talk.

Sacramento Bee Dining Review: Hawks’ high quality translates to new Sacramento spot

Sacramento often measures the vibrancy of its restaurant scene in relation to San Francisco and Napa Valley – and by how much time Sacramento chefs or sommeliers spent in those culinary hubs before arriving here.

Yet the strongest recent indicator of Sacramento’s relevance comes not from either of those places, but from Placer County, in acclaimed Granite Bay fine-dining restaurant Hawks’ expansion into Sacramento with the 3-month-old Hawks Public House.

Hawks executive chef and co-owner Michael Fagnoni said he and his wife, fellow chef Molly Hawks, opened the gastropub and Hawks Provisions, the to-go breakfast and lunch spot that sits beside it on Alhambra Boulevard, partly to be closer to the action.

Sacramento News & Review: Hawks Provisions and Public House may leave you in an emotional, blissful daze.

Memorably Hazy:

Sometimes the best meals are the most difficult ones to remember. Chalk it up to one too many glasses of wine, the delirium of a good space filled by friends or just a dreamlike state caused by a truly excellent twirl of pasta. Regardless, Hawks Provisions and Public House hits that sweet spot where the only thing you may recall is the feeling of being happy.

This is the highest praise I can heave at the darling eatery.

Sacramento News & Review: Hawks Provisions & Public House Expands with Brunch

Brunch fans have another place to check out soon: Hawks Provisions & Public House.

The Sacramento casual outpost of the Granite Bay fine dining destination, Hawks Public House (1525 Alhambra Boulevard) will start brunch service on Sunday, February 7. The menu is pretty compact—seven small plates and seven mains to choose from—with a European bent.

Main dishes include patatas bravas with a poached egg and braised short rib ($16), smoked salmon bruschetta with herbed cream cheese ($16) and poached eggs over polenta, pork ragu and provolone ($15). Vegetarians have decidedly fewer options, but could opt for pastries or housemade granola with berries and almond milk ($5). Hawks will also offer some lunch favorites, like the burger ($18) and country pate ($7).

Kerrie Kelly Design Lab: CHEF’S TABLE

While Sacramento may not be on the map for famous fashion weeks and celebrity homes, it is home to some of the best restaurants in all of the country. Being natives, we say with great delight that we’ve tried– and enjoyed– nearly all of them and their local offerings. So when a new gastropub popped up on our block, you know we made a reservation as soon as we could.

Hawk’s was first hatched as a posh, upscale dining room in Granite Bay, CA. Manufactured and manned by a husband + wife team, Hawk’s quickly became the go-to restaurant for Sacramento-famous farm-to-fork dining. With its success and constant influx of new clientele, owner and chef team, Molly Hawks and Michael Fagnoni, decided to expand. And so Hawk’s Provisions + Public House came to be. Perched on a bustling corner in East Sacramento, the gastropub features urban design, fresh and local food offerings, and a beer and wine list that would make even the most knowledgeable libations expert blush. With its cozy and casual atmosphere and artisan eats, Hawk’s Provisions + Public House is sure to become a staple eatery in East Sacramento.

When dining there ourselves, we had the chance to steal away the general manager of the esteemed new dining experience, Esra Oktar, to answer some of our burning questions about interior design, the farm-to-fork style menu, and the conception of Hawk’s Provisions + Public House.
